The Center for Outpatient Surgery — Tinton Falls, New Jersey

The Center for Outpatient Surgery at The Plastic Surgery Center is a private, purpose-built ambulatory surgical facility located in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. It is here that Dr. Lakhiani performs many of his outpatient nerve and reconstructive procedures — in a setting designed from the ground up for patient comfort, clinical excellence, and operational precision.

About the Facility

TCOPS — The Center for Outpatient Surgery at The Plastic Surgery Center — is a state-of-the-art outpatient surgical facility designed to support the full range of ambulatory procedures performed by Dr. Lakhiani and his colleagues. The center operates under the guiding principle of Convenient. Comfortable. Caring. — a commitment that is evident from the moment a patient arrives.

As a dedicated outpatient facility, TCOPS allows patients to have their procedures performed in a focused, efficient environment — one designed specifically for same-day surgical care, rather than the larger, more complex infrastructure of an acute care hospital. For appropriate outpatient procedures, this setting offers a calmer, more personalized experience while maintaining the highest standards of surgical safety and sterile technique.

Accreditations & Standards

The Center for Outpatient Surgery holds the full complement of accreditations required for a surgical facility of its caliber. These credentials are not formalities — they represent rigorous, ongoing compliance with patient safety and quality standards evaluated by independent third parties.

  • New Jersey State Licensed — The facility holds an active license from the State of New Jersey, affirming compliance with all applicable state regulations governing outpatient surgical care.
  • Medicare Accredited — The facility meets the standards required for participation in the Medicare program, confirming that its policies, procedures, and physical environment satisfy federal quality and safety benchmarks.
  • AAAASF Accredited — The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities is widely recognized as the Gold Standard in ambulatory surgery accreditation and is the largest accrediting organization of its kind in the country. AAAASF-accredited facilities must achieve 100% compliance with all applicable standards — there is no partial credit. This accreditation signals an unwavering commitment to patient safety, sterile technique, equipment standards, credentialing, and emergency preparedness.

Procedures Performed Here

Dr. Lakhiani performs many of his outpatient nerve and reconstructive procedures at TCOPS. The following categories are representative of the work performed in this setting:

  • Peripheral nerve decompression — carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, tarsal tunnel, peroneal nerve, and related compressions
  • Pudendal nerve decompression — surgical release for pudendal nerve entrapment causing pelvic or perineal pain
  • Piriformis release & deep gluteal decompression — sciatic nerve release at the deep gluteal space
  • Groin nerve decompression — ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric, and genitofemoral nerve releases
  • Multilevel sciatic nerve decompression — staged or combined approaches to sciatic nerve entrapment
  • Lower extremity nerve decompressions — common peroneal, superficial peroneal, sural, and other lower leg releases
  • Scar revision & neuroma excision — resection of painful neuromas and revision of problematic scars
  • Outpatient reconstructive procedures — skin grafts, smaller reconstructive cases, and related ambulatory procedures

Complex reconstructive cases requiring an inpatient stay — such as large free flap reconstructions — are performed at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, not at TCOPS.

Insurance & Billing

The Center for Outpatient Surgery is in-network with most major insurance plans, including Medicare and many commercial insurers. Because participation varies by individual plan and policy, we recommend verifying coverage with both your insurance carrier and the surgery center directly at (732) 212-1991 before your procedure.

Please note that the surgery center fee is separate from the surgeon's fee and the anesthesia fee — each will be billed separately. Your care team can help you understand what to expect and who to contact with questions about each component of your bill.

The Patient Experience

From the moment you arrive, the environment at TCOPS is designed to put you at ease. The facility is private, quiet, and staffed by a team that works exclusively in the outpatient surgical setting — professionals who are attentive, experienced, and focused entirely on your comfort and safety.

Patients often remark that the atmosphere feels immediately reassuring — that from the first interaction, they are confident they are in good hands. This is not an accident. The center's design, its credentialing standards, and the culture of its staff all reflect a commitment to providing surgical care that is not only clinically excellent, but genuinely human.

As an outpatient facility, TCOPS allows for a level of focused, individualized attention that can be more difficult to achieve in a large hospital setting. Patients typically spend a few hours at the center on the day of their procedure and return home the same day.
